Week 7 - Pre-Raphaelite

The theme for this week with Bronwen Hyde was Pre-Raphaelite. It wasnt an easy one to work on as it's an art movement. I took some inspiration from Flaming June by Lord Frederic Leighton and Proserpine by Dante Gabriel Rossetti to create my image.

The inspiration for my image was referencing Pre-Raphaelite themes, such as the idolization and sexualization of women, red hair, religious undertone imagery through the fruit and rich tones on a plain backdrop.

  1. I found this post while doing research for a paper on the myth of Persephone. I think you've done a great job of capturing the Pre-Raphaelite aesthetic. I can definitely see the influence of "Flaming June," which is my favorite Leighton painting.
